Teaching Your Horse to Think

Time: 9AM – 4PM
Location: Happy Critter Farm
Description: This clinic is focused on discovering how horses
think, what motivates them, how to turn them into willing partners and how to
teach them to think instead of react in scary situations.
You’ll learn:
- how to get your horse to pay attention to you instead of focusing on other
horses or objects
- how to tell when your horse is thinking and when he is instincting
- what to do to get your horse thinking when he’s not
- how to get your horse to think his way thru obstacles and scary situations
Cost: $90 for horse and rider if registered by Saturday, 9/9/06. The fee
after that date is $100.
Auditor Cost: $20 to audit
Size: Clinic is limited to 8 riders. There is no limit on auditors.
Registration: $45 non-refundable deposit. Must be received by Saturday, 9/9/06
to obtain the $90 price. After 9/9/06 the deposit is $50 and the price is
$100.
If you need to cancel, you may receive a refund on your deposit if you can get
someone else to take your place.
Equipment required:
- Rope halter (not a nylon web or leather halter)
- Lead rope for halter
- Carrot stick/handy stick/horseman’s stick or whatever you prefer to call it.
(This is a 4’ fiberglass stick with a 4’ string attached to the end. If you
don’t have one, we may be able to lend you one. Please call)
- Saddle & saddle pad
- Bridle – snaffle bit preferred
Other Notes:
- Your horse must be reasonably comfortable in a group
- You must be able to control your horse to the point where you can keep him
separated from other horses when necessary
- Uncontrollable horses will be dismissed from the clinic. The rider may
continue to audit the clinic, but there will be no refund. A group clinic is
not the place to bring a green horse.
